    Vertebral Subluxation Complex

Vertebral subluxation complex (VSC) is a term used to describe what happens when spinal bones lose their normal motion or position. This can disturb nearby nerves and the areas those nerves control, including organs, tissues, and cells throughout the body.

    The Five Components

    Spinal Kinesiopathology

The bones of the spine lose their normal motion and position, restricting your ability to turn and bend.

    Neuropathophysiology

Improper spinal function can choke, stretch, or irritate delicate nerve tissue, disrupting communication between the brain and body.

    Myopathology

Muscles supporting the spine can weaken, atrophy, or become tight and go into spasm, affecting posture and movement.

    Histopathology

A rise in body temperature, swelling, and other changes in soft tissues can signal inflammation caused by subluxation.

    Pathophysiology

Over time, abnormal bony growths (bone spurs) and other abnormal changes can develop, leading to spinal decay and degeneration.

Chiropractic adjustments can help restore proper spinal function, which may help reduce joint restriction and improve comfort and movement for some patients. Individual results vary.
